LF1 Series Filter, Berlin View Product
The LF1 Series Berlin Filter Systems are just that, a complete system! Everything is included for installation to your aquarium. Complete with engineered sump, protein skimmer , skimmer pump, circulation system pump, system manifold, sump covers, bulkheads, all hoses, clamps, and fittings. Filter Cylinders (up to three) are optional and can be added at any time. Sumps have locations to connect a calcium reactor, reverse osmosis, and a LifeReefugium
Model number indicates maximum aquarium size in gallons the sump can handle. Sumps are over-sized and WILL NOT overflow if set up according to the instructions.

Do Not Use a Plain Container or Aquarium for a Sump! This is the least usable and a waste of valuable cabinet space. Your sump should do more than just hold water or your skimmer. It should be capable of mechanical or chemical (carbon, nitrate removers, phosphate removers, resins, etc) filtration and more importantly removing or reducing micro-bubbles that are emitted from many of the protein skimmers we see being used. Our protein skimmers emit zero to extremely low bubbles into the sump. Sumps can also be built to accomodate any protein skimmer on the market.
Anyone can build you a cheap sump! But will they guarantee it? Will they offer their own suggestions (if they have any experience with sump design)? Will they make any changes if there are problems with your design? Not likely. They will build exactly per your drawings or phone conversation. If you trust your design then go for it.
But I will look at your design or requirements and design a sump that works.
Use our Berlin Sump of our design or we can build to your specs. We can make sumps specifically for the "downdraft" and aerated protein skimmers that will isolate most of the bubbles that are emitted from these skimmers. We can do in-sump skimmer setups or external, chiller coil chambers, etc.
For those wanting to use other protein skimmers and want a truly unique and versatile sump we offer our Berlin Sump. Includes sump with filter cylinder bracket, electrode/probe bracket, sump covers, bulkhead fittings, foam filter block(s), and a final filter pad. Fittings, hoses, and clamps are additional and available in the FK1 or FK2 kits below. Bulkheads and fittings larger than 1" are additional.

All our protein skimmers come COMPLETE with water pump (or can be purchased less pump), hoses, clamps, fittings, ball and gate valves, and a very efficient venturi air injector system. These skimmers can be installed externally, in sump, or as stand alone (run off and return to aquarium). Special keyhole shaped screw holes on the VS3 Series allow complete skimmer take-apart capability but is NOT required for efficiency as in other take-apart skimmers. These skimmers will hook up to any type of sump, in-sump, stand-alone, or directly off aquariums not using a sump. The CVC feature, Constant Venturi Cleansing, will eliminate salt build-up with the venturi so this skimmer will operate with a stable water level. ALL protein skimmers on the market suffer from salt accumulation in the venturi, needle-wheel (needle-wheel skimmers have a venturi on the inlet to the pump), Becketts, nozzle-injection, and this causes the skimmers to fluctuate and even flood.
